I'm looking to buy my first ranger.  I've found a 2005 500 with 144 hours on it.  Looks in good shape.
comes with 4500 winch and 72 inch plow and chains.  He is asking $6,800.
Is that a fair price?

Thanks

Here is the NADA prices to use as a guide, you be the judge.

Winch is nice to have but do you really need a plow?  Plows do put more stress on components so look that over well.

Code:

            Low Retail Average Retail
 Base Price        $4,065 $5,345
 Options
Winch (ATV/UTL) $225 $248
 TOTAL PRICE $4,290 $5,593

 Suggested List: $8,999

I have a 2005 with 300 hours in good shape, would $4500 be a fair price to ask as I am going to sell soon as our house sells?

I think that is priced too high.
I've been watching prices pretty close for the last month and it seems like rangers that are priced close to a thousand dollars for every year after 2000 that they were built are selling,(ex, $5000 for a 2005 or $9000 for a 2009) Others are not.
Most guys want to make bank on their added on accesories, but unless they are what you really want, they are not of much value to you.
It's a buyers market letseat, so enjoy
I know it's out of your area, but you can check out ksl.com classifieds in the utv section to see about 200 current utv adds for sale.
Good luck
